Abstract:
Montmorillonite was organic modified by cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide. The linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)/nanomontmorillonite (nanoMMT) gymnastic artificial turf fibers were prepared by melt spinning. The influences of nanoMMT on the mechanical properties, wear resistance and flame retardant properties of LLDPE fibers were determined by electric fabric strength tester, wear testing machine and limiting oxygen index tester. The results showed that the adding of nanoMMT improved the properties of LLDPE fibers. When the mass fraction of nanoMMT was 3%, the properties of LLDPE fibers were the best, the tensile strength was 22.1 N and the elongation rate was 146.7%; the wear amount of the fiber decreased from 30.2 mg to 12.2 mg,decreased by 59.6%, the oxygen index value increased from 19.3% to 22.5%.
