Abstract:
It is difficult to remove the resistance of mass transfer in oxidation of sulfur dioxide in slurry of activated carbon(at room temperature and atmospheric Dressure). The postulated reaction mechanism was indirectly tested by varying the composition of oxygen and sulfur dioxide in inlet gas and measuring the volume-averaged oxidation rate of sulfur dioxide of small particles when the slightly soluble limiting reactant oxygen is relatively in large excess. And in the meanwhile the gaseous reactants are being chemisorbed by the slurries of activated carbon in the course of reaction, therefore, the parameters of kinetics and mass transfer, and enhancement factor could be evaluated by varying the concentrations of slurries of activated carbon, the sizes of particle as well as the reaction temperature.
