Abstract:
The characters of cell growth in the culture process with beads to beads inoculation under static conditions were investigated and the mechanisms of cells transferring from beads to beads were proposed. It was demonstrated that compared with inoculation by suspended cells beads to beads inoculation is unsuitable to large scale operation because of the unbalance of growth and the difference of the physiological states between cells on new beads and that on old beads. The feasibility of inoculation with suspended cells on large scale operation was discussed.
