Abstract: Infrared spectrometry, X ray diffractometry, optical microscope and SEM were used to study the freshwater pearls cultured in Zhejiang province. The chemical and mineral composition of these pearls and its microstructure how to influence the luster of pearls can be realized on the basis of these measurements. Then the surface characteristics of the pearl that has smooth surface were observed with scanning electron microscope.
