Abstract:
In the fermentation process of glycerol production, the growth of Candida krusei was limited by corn steep liquor (CSL) and the cell yield based on CSL was 1.63g/g. High osmotic environment or controlled cell growth in the growth phase caused decreased glucose consumption rate during the production phase. Higher glycerol yield was obtained at reduced glucose consumption rates due to a better distribution of metabolized glucose to growth, maintenance, and glycerol and by product formation.
