Abstract:
Abstract: Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is a new sensor network, and Leach (low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy) is one of the most popular clustering protocols in WSNs. Leach protocol chooses a cluster head (CH) via a probability model and changes the cluster heads periodically to preserve energy and prolong the lifetime of the networks. In this paper, the selection method of cluster head in Leach protocol is modified using the energy and location of nodes in networks. Simulation results on NS2(network simulator version 2) show that the modified Leach algorithm can enlarge the lifetime of WSNs.
