Abstract: A new concept about the effect of liquid mixing on vapour mixing in distillation columns is presented and the relevant correlation equations are obtained. The calculated values of tray efficiency are in good agreement with those reported by Diener and the discrepancies are smaller than those without taking into account the effect of liquid mixing on vapour mixing between trays.
