Abstract:
The extraction of cadmium chlorocomplexes from hydrochloric acid or sodium chloride solution has been investigated with four commercially available high molecular weight amines. The topic studies include the extraction efficiencies of various amines and the effects of acidity, chloride concentration, diluents and amine concentration. By analysis of chemical composition of saturated organic phase and lg-lg plots of amine concentration vs. distribution ratio, the extracted metal chloride-amine species of TOA and N_(1923) are determined to be probably (R_3NH)_2 CdCl_4 and (RNH_3)_3 CdCl_5 respectively.
