Abstract:
A new numerical method is presented to deal with the irregular plates with various boundary conditions in bending. It is based on the principles of the spline subdomain method and the finite strip one. As a direct result, the application ranges of these two methods are extended. When compared with the finite element method, the new method has less amount of computation work, higher accuracy, and is more convenient to compile a computer program. Due to these characteristics, it is possible to easily apply the new method to actual engineering design by using personal computers. As its applications, several numerical examples are also provided. In addition, a bending experiment for the plate with a circle hole is performed. The numerical results are fairly in agreement with the experimental ones.
