Abstract:
A bubble column reactor and three types of stirred reactors were selected ordesigned for cultivation of Pertila frutescens suspended cells for production of anthocyaninpigment(a secondary metabolite). The culture conditions in the various bioreactors were in-vestigated in detail for the pigment accumulation. The results indicate that based upon theanthocyanin productivity,a bubble column reactor and a stirred reactor with marine impellerwere superior to two types of turbine-agitated reactors,This study is considered to be helpful for the selection, design, optimization and scale-up of the bioreactor for P,frutescens cellcultures.
