Abstract:
Amphiphilic monomer(MEQ) was prepared by the quarterisation reaction of N,N-dimethyl-n-tetradecylamine and epichlorohydrin, which displayed surface active due to the hydrophilic and hydrophobic groups on its molecules.Through the macromolecular reaction method,a series of(amphiphilic) hydroxyethyl cellulose(MEQHEC) were prepared. The solution behaviors of MEQHEC was systematically studied, including the viscosification properties,viscosity-temperature relationship,viscosity-electrolyte relationship and the steady rheological behavior.Amphiphilic structure of MEQHEC molecules is contributed to the surface activity of MEQHEC,which led to the decrease of the surface tension with the increase of the polymer concentration and MEQ content of the polymer.Atomic force microscope (AFM) and fluorescence spectrum measurement were applied to study the formation of the supramolecular aggregations of MEQHEC.At high polymer concentration, the much regularly arranged and stick-like aggregations can be formed in NaCl aqueous solution, which size increased with the increase of NaCl concentration. The stick-like micelles resultes from the amphiphilic structure of the polymer molecules.
