Abstract:
The neuroprotective effect of picrosides on analog dementia induced by galactose and nitrite natrium in mice was investigated.Water maze test, pathological observation, superoxide dismutase(SOD) and malondialdehyde(MDA) measurement were conducted. As a result, the analog dementia model animals exhibited significant learning and memory deficits, just as Alzheimer's disease(AD) in human. With the treatment of picrosides, the learning and memory ability of those mice was greatly improved. In addition, picrosides treatment increased the activity of SOD while decreased the concentration of MDA in the serum and brain of experimental mice. Therefore,it is concluded that picrosides is capable of prohibiting the presented animal model from suffering dementia, which may attribute to its anti-oxidative effect.
