Abstract:
The solvent actions of N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone during irradiation polymerization were studied. If water is used as a solvent, the hydrogel would be formed, on the other hand, if C_2H_5OH or CH_3. CO. CH_3 were used instead, the polymerization rate would be much more sapid then that with CH_3. CO. CH_3, which might be caused by the hydrogen bond formed by water or C_2H_5OH with N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone. In case of the solvent used as C_2H_5OH or CH_3. CO. CH_3, the termination reaction of polymerization is of the type of a bimolecular one.
