Abstract:
The influence of surfactant on suspension drop formation, which consists of the hollow glass-bead and ultrapure water, was studied experimentally with the high-speed camera. The results indicated that the thinning dynamics of neck diameter reduced with the increase of the surfactant concentration. The breakup length of filament and the diameter of satellite drop decreased first, and then increased when the surfactant mass fraction increased. However, the diameter of the formed drop reduced with the increase of the surfactant mass fraction. Finally, the drop growth velocity increased with time at the same surfactant mass fraction. The drop growth velocity increased when the surfactant mass fraction increased, while always smaller than that of the control group.
